30,000 people were killed in road accidents in Israel since 1948,
over 6,000 more than the total number of people killed in Israel's wars.
(In Palestine, number of traffic deaths is twice that of Israel. Among the reasons cited for the disparity between the Arab and Jewish sectors:
Dangerous driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, non-use of seatbelts, speeding, unsafe vehicles, unsafe pedestrian behavior, and low-level infrastructures.)
But all this is "just media hype", anyway. We all hoped that, finally, after well over fifty years, the fighting had come to an end with the AIDS-caused death
of that so-called charismatic unshaven dish-cloth wrapped leader Yassir Arafat. I lit fireworks when I heard the news and I'm not even Jewish!
Alas, not so. In fact, it got worse in 2006. Much worse. Looking back with hindsight, how innocent I was!
Anyway, in Colombia tens of times more are killed each year, so as not to interrupt your precious coke line.
